Round the Island Race

Round the Island Race

Here’s our guide to race weekend on the Isle of Wight, one of those events that makes living here feel like a real privilege. The Solent fills up with over 1,600 boats, the marina hums with energy, and the whole Island leans into it in a way that doesn’t happen very often.

If you’ve never watched it from the shore, this is the weekend to do it. Find a spot on the water’s edge early, pack your coffee and snacks and just watch. It’s genuinely spectacular.

WHERE TO WATCH

The best views are from the Cowes waterfront, get there before the starting canons and you’ll see the fleet head out in full. Egypt Point is quieter and gives you a long view down the Solent. If you want to follow the race further round, Yarmouth is worth the drive or head right round to the south of the Island.

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK

Come and find us at Holm. We’ll be open all weekend for good coffee, something to eat, and a calm corner if the marina gets a little much. If you’re racing or crewing, we’re a good first stop before the start and a better one after.

WHAT TO PICK UP

If you’re looking for something to mark the occasion or shopping for someone who loves the Island, browse our current edit online or come and see us in store.

Good luck to everyone racing. We’ll be watching from the shore, coffee in hand.
